Here in Australia, folk living in the small, relatively quiet, safe Victorian township of Hastings, have yet to directly feel the rapidly spreading consequences of the current Israeli/Hamas war. A deadly, perhaps unstoppable conflict that ever expands in brutality and the killing of innocents, as it continues to explode and worsen, sending shockwaves and fear across a world unable to find a cure to what can best be described in terms of a tribal clash of biblical proportions between two ancient militant and deadly groups. The latest chapter of open conflict followed a murderous attack launched by Hamas across the Gaza border into Israel.
That pre-meditated attack on 7 October 2023 resulted in the indescriminate slaughter of approximately 1,200 Israelis, including children (38), women and men of all ages, and a further 253 Israelis across all ages and sexes, beaten, sometimes raped, then dragged back to Gaza for use as hostages.
Hamas’s attack, was truly horrendous. Indescribably murderous and provocative in its delivery.
